The Municipality of Bragança has renewed its application to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in the Gastronomy category.
This work was once again carried out with the technical support of IPI, and with the deep conviction that all the recommendations for improvement received from UNESCO were properly taken on board and reflected in the work carried out. Initiatives were strengthened and procedures improved, what was already being done was explained more clearly, as well as what has been energised since 2023. In fact, in these two years, the participation of the local community in the preparation of the candidature has been greatly strengthened and extended. This has made it possible to consolidate the consultative process, as well as to continue with even greater assertiveness the initiatives that have been developed in this creative field of gastronomy and related areas. Furthermore, it is hoped that this time we have succeeded in demonstrating the effort made to involve specific groups, such as young people, disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, as well as the commitment to gender equality. Likewise, it is hoped to have succeeded in showing how Bragança’s vision and actions are perfectly aligned with international agendas, such as the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development, the MONDIACULT 2022 Declaration or the Braga Manifesto.
